Please Read: Important Info for All Swim Team Parents
Parents,
Congrats on the win against Roxboro last night! The final score was 407 to 360. It was a gorgeous evening for a swim meet, and I am so appreciative of those who stepped up at the last minute to fill necessary volunteer roles. However, we experienced numerous hiccups that resulted in disappointed swimmers & frazzled coaches that could have been avoided. Whether you were present or not last night, please read below so we can be better for future meets:
- Please
double check your swimmers’ RSVPs
- We had ~15 swimmers cancel, no show, or decide not to swim at the last-minute. The meet line-ups, including relays, had been created with these swimmers attending. This resulted in numerous relays having to be rejuggled or completely canceled at the very last minute; there were some very disappointed swimmers not getting to swim their relays.
- While there are individual events, this is also a team sport when it comes to relays. Please keep in mind the trickle-down effect when one swimmer doesn’t show or decides they don’t want to swim at the last minute; there isn’t always another swimmer who can step in to swim an additional event.
- Double
check your volunteer RSPVs
- We had several parents sign up to be timers, who ended up being out of town. This led to a last-minute scramble to find replacements.
- Communicate
Preferences with our Coaches
- If your child doesn’t want to or doesn’t like to swim certain events, please make sure to communicate that to Coaches Cara & Joseph. With enough notice, they are more than happy to accommodate preferences. Please email, call or text them when you are signing up for a meet to let them know of any event/relay preferences.
Our amazing coaches spend several hours the weekend before a meet putting together the best possible line-up for the Barracudas based on the RSVPs they have received as of the cut-off date. Please respect their time and effort by being accurate with your RSVPs and by communicating preferences to the coaches.
Our next 3 meets will be HOME meets (YAY!), which are always fun and convenient! We appreciate your help in making these meets flow smoothly and for being a welcoming venue for our visiting teams.
If you have any questions or feedback, please let me know.
Goooo Barracudas!
