Crash Course for GA Tech Divisionals

    Parents,

For those of you who haven't participated in the GA Tech Divisionals before, here's what you need to know to help prepare you and make things go smoothly that morning:

    • Warm-up time for the Brittany team hasn't been published, yet, but it could be as early as 7:00am
    • Parking is extremely limited, so carpool if possible
    • You can get an advance parking pass for $12, or you can pay $15 cash at the gate. Click here for the link to buy the advance parking pass.
    • Attached is the GA Tech parking map
    • All 11 & unders have to go through a bull pen that is located off the side of the pool. Our coaches will take them and make sure they are ready; however, they do have to line up 4 events (not 4 heats) before their event.
    • The bull pen for Divisionals is a little different than it is for our regular dual meets. It is an area meant to seat the swimmers before lining up for their race. There will be bull pen volunteers who will walk each swimmer up to their lanes.
      • If your child makes it to Finals, it's crucial to go through the bull pen. If your child doesn't go through the bull pen, an alternate will step up and swim in your child's place.
    • Make sure your kids eat a protein-rich breakfast because it can be a long morning. Feel free to pack healthy snacks and even a lunch in their bags with their goggles, towels, etc. There is only 1 food vendor within the swimming complex, and the lines get extremely long.
    • Bring at least 2 towels, an extra pair of goggles (b/c some kid's goggles ALWAYS break), non-screen ways to entertain themselves in b/w events (e.g. books, cards, etc).
    • Parents are NOT allowed on deck. Parents have to watch from the stands.
    • Security guards monitor the event and make sure the aisles and breezeways remain clear for safety purposes. Please stay in your seats the entire time.
    • No balloons, noisemakers, cowbells, whistlers, etc.
    • No personal fold out chairs
    • No flash photography is allowed in the aquatics center
    • Your child will go onto Finals if they are in the Top 40 for 10& under or Top 30 for 11+. Unfortunately, we won't know this information until late Friday evening (after 9pm) because all the sessions have to end. Coach Tori will send out an email late Friday night with the results.
    • After our session on Thurs morning, if your child is top 15 for 10& under or top 10 for 11+, there's a good chance that they will be invited for Finals on Saturday.
    • When you RSVP for Divisionals, Coach Tori MUST know whether you are available should your child make it to Finals on Saturday (6/29).

If you have any questions, please email Coach Tori at [email protected] or the Swim Team coordinators at [email protected]. And, make sure to RSVP for Divisionals by this Wednesday evening at 11:30pm.
